CoworkMYR is no more.
In the summer of 2012, CoworkMYR was started by Paul Reynolds. Mike Schroll was one of the first members and quickly became a cofounder. CoworkMYR grew in size and function since then. Cocelerator spun out of it, offering a 120 day program for early-stage entrepreneurs to create their minimally viable product, and CoceleratorU, which replaced Coastal Carolina University’s annual business plan competition.
Having provided these services to the community, it became apparent there is a bigger need for support for entrepreneurs with scalable ideas on the Grand Strand. With the help of the Grand Strand Tech Council, Mike Schroll, Paul Reynolds, and Jason Greene, applied for a state grant to help them provide resources to entrepreneurs with scalable business ideas that leverage technology. In May 2014, they received an award of $250,000 matching grant from South Carolina Department of Commerce. These funds will help to develop early stage companies, educate entrepreneurs and bring ideas to fruition.
CoworkMYR was in operation for two years, but following reception of the state grant we closed CoworkMYR. Startup.SC was born, with a focus to helping scalable entrepreneurs in the Grand Strand. Startup.SC now operates out of two new spaces in Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island.
